This course reviews basic principles of physics that occur in first-order phase changes (freezing/thawing) and second-order phase changes (vitrification/warming). Known the physical bases of phase changes, it introduces the different cryopreservation techniques of gametes, embryos and tissues. It conducts a compared study of the advantages and disadvantages of each technology and the repercussion on the nature of the cryopreserved specimen.
